Ofsted Information

Thetford Academy has been rated as Good overall by Ofsted, after an inspection in March 2020. The report says that where achievement is strong, ‘subject leaders and teachers have considered what students know and what they need to learn’ and that students 'feel valued and cared for.

The report also said that students ‘personal development is thought through’ and through the careers programme, students ‘participate in a range of employer events and talks’.

‘Sixth-form students enjoy mentoring younger pupils, work experience, politics club… the list goes on. Students say that they are well informed about choices post-18. More students than previously secure their next steps in either university, work or apprenticeships.’

The Sixth Form has been working hard to improve outcomes.

‘There has been a focus on improving the rigour and ambition of the curriculum as well as the quality of teaching’.

Ofsted said 'high expectations are clear.' Adding that 'pupils aspire to meet these because they want to do well.'
