University Applications

Students receive dedicated support for university applications from their Leadership Tutors, our Senior Tutor, the Sixth Form Support Manager, and Dr Fordham (Vice-Principal of the Academy). We have a proven track record in securing offers and places for our students at the most prestigious universities including Cambridge, Manchester, UEA and other Russell Group or Top 40 institutions.

Students receive advice and guidance in choosing the right courses at the right universities, and ensuring that they make choices that match their aspirations and abilities.

We use OSCAR (Online System for Completing Applications & References), provided by Causeway Education, as the system for writing personal statements. This is an online tool that guides students through writing personal statements for the most competitive of courses and universities.

We provide specialist support for students who aspire to Oxford or Cambridge, or who wish to pursue medicine or veterinary medicine at university.

UCAS

Full guidance is provided on using the national UCAS system to apply for courses at universities. UCAS also supports career exploration, apprenticeships, study abroad and is the central hub for preparing you for your next steps. You will be supported in writing a high-quality personal statement using our online system OSCAR and selecting appropriate courses that fit with your future plans.

Oxbridge and Competitive Courses

Full guidance is given in Year 12 on preparing to make applications to highly competitive courses with interview preparation and ‘super-curricular’ activities that help set you aside from other high-achieving students. This is further supported by our outreach officers at Cambridge, Oxford, UEA and Higher Aspirations Scheme Membership. Students can participate in activities such as mock interviews, lectures and test preparation.
