Biology

A-Level Biology is where we begin to delve deep into the study of living organisms, including humans, plants, insects and even fish. This includes developing our basic understanding of cell biology and exploring the biochemistry that is shared by all life on Earth. There are also many opportunities to carry out practical work from dissections to fieldwork at the beach.

What will I study?

There are six modules in biology. You will study:

Module 1: Development of practical skills.
Module 2: Foundations in biology.
Module 3: Exchange and transport.
Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease.
Module 5: Communication, homeostasis and energy. Module 6: Genetics, evolution and ecosystems.

What can I do with A-Level biology?

People who study biology go on to study at university for degrees in medicine, zoology, forensics, veterinary science, dentistry, and teaching. An A-Level in biology shows you are able to think analytically, research, study and communicate complex ideas.
