What was your experience of Sixth Form lessons?
Lessons were focused and teachers delivered both group and individual approaches to make sure everyone worked their hardest. Teachers actively went above and beyond to give individual feedback and to help you understand the content beyond just memorising it.
How was your experience of studying the EPQ?
I conducted research on why people lie and applied it to The Traitors gameshow. I did it because I have an interest in the biological structures of the brain and how they create behaviour. I gained lots of academic research and writing practice.
How was your Thomas Paine Sixth Form social experience?
I went on many trips including to London and Thorpe Woodlands. There is always something to do and the spaces to socialise with people at Sixth Form are amazing. The common room feels homely.
What support did you receive at Thomas Paine Sixth Form?
Teachers offered to help us in their free periods, to understand content and to work on exam questions.
How have you developed personally as a Thomas Paine Student?
I developed a lot at Sixth Form, especially academically. I learnt how to create individual revision strategies for each subject.
What super-curricular experiences did you take part in at Sixth Form?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is amazing and gave us the best trips to the Peak and Lake Districts. Tell everyone to do it!
Do you have any highlights from your time at Thomas Paine Sixth Form?
The amazing Sixth Form team is always willing to help with anything. Thomas Paine has the best teachers who know everything beyond the curriculum and are always helping you develop your knowledge beyond A Level exams.
What are your plans for the future?
I am going to study at The University of York and in the future, I hope to do a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Hull.
Have you any advice for future Sixth Form students based on your experiences?
Just do everything that comes your way and get revision mind maps or flashcards ready in Year 12. Do active recall.
